The new U.S. charge d'affaires to Sudan arrived in the capital, Khartoum, on Tuesday, the American Embassy said in a statement, according to AP. Cameron Hume has taken charge of the embassy for an indefinite period, the statement said. Hume's previous role was as deputy inspector general of the U.S. State Department and he has worked as a diplomat for more than three decades, including as ambassador to Algeria and South Africa. He has also served previously as a political counselor in Syria and Lebanon.
