Japanese leader urges industrialized nations to ratify Kyoto accord

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi urged
industrialized countries that have not signed the Kyoto
Protocol on greenhouse gases to ratify the treaty and help
reduce the threat of global warming, news reports said
Saturday.
"We must ask major greenhouse gas-emitting nations that
have not taken part in the Kyoto Protocol to take
leadership roles," he told an international conference on
the environment, according to Kyodo News agency and
national broadcaster NHK.
