Iran's ambassador in New Delhi met a top Indian foreign affairs official to convey his government's disappointment at India's decision to vote on a U.N. atomic agency resolution putting Tehran on notice over its nuclear program, officials said Wednesday. The meeting between Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran and Iranian Ambassador Siyavash Zargar Yaghoubi took place Tuesday, as Iran threatened to review trade deals with countries that voted against it at the International Atomic Energy Agency. In a surprise move, India joined the U.S., Britain, France, Germany and other nations in backing the IAEA resolution last week calling on the agency to consider reporting Iran to the U.N. Security Council for not complying with the nuclear nonproliferation treaty. The Indian foreign ministry said in statement released Wednesday that Saran had explained to Yaghoubi the rationale behind India's decision at IAEA vote on Saturday, according to a report of The Associated Press.
