Two Argentinians have disappeared without a trace into a 100 metre-deep glacial crevice in Antarctica, officials told Reuters on Wednesday. A specialized search team on Tuesday failed to find the bodies or the gear of the two men - a biologist and a soldier - who vanished into the abyss while snow mobiling. Another rescue attempt was slated for Wednesday. The temperature within the crevice - as narrow as a chimney and completely still and dark - was reported to be about minus five degrees Celsius. The humidity, however, made it feel like 22 degrees below zero, according to one of the rescuers. The accident happened Saturday when the two men were travelling between two Antarctic stations - both located on the 25 de Mayo Island. Another snowmobile barely missed the gap. -- SPA 2307 Local Time 2007 GMT
