US Trade Representative Robert Portman has highlighted the success of the negotiations which led to signing a bilateral agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the US, subsequently paving way for the admission of the Kingdom to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The bilateral agreement constitutes a positive development for the Kingdom, the US and the WTO, he said. Portman hailed the efforts exerted by the Saudi negotiating team and its concern for the economic reforms as well as the role of the Kingdom in realizing peace and stability in the region. He lauded the measures undertaken by the Kingdom in the field of trade reforms and revision of systems, notably measures pertaining to the protection of the rights of the intellectual property, the systems of licenses, customs, technical specifications and measurements in a manner that conforms with the statutes of WTO.
