U.S. President George W. Bush Wednesday asked Congress for another 51.8 billion dollars to help the hurricane disaster recovery effort, the White House said. The amount would be in addition to the 10.5 billion dollars rushed through by Congress last year. Most of the money will be channeled through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, said he expected total federal outlays for the disaster to reach 150 billion dollars. --SP 2249 Local Time 1949 GMT
