Space Shuttle Discovery was expected to arrive at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday after riding atop a jumbo jet across the country from California, where it was forced to land after its 14-day space mission, AP reported. The modified Boeing 747 carrying Discovery arrived in Louisiana Friday evening after leaving Edwards Air Force Base in the morning. It was to depart Saturday morning for the final leg to Florida. An Air Force KC-135 has flown ahead of the shuttle to monitor weather along the route. The expected cost of the trip: at least $1 million (¤820,000 million). Discovery and its seven-member crew touched down Aug. 9 at Edwards Air Force Base after low clouds and lightning prevented the shuttle from returning to Florida during four earlier opportunities. --mor 1459 Local Time 1159 GMT
