Tamil rebel website Tamilnet Friday said that the LTTE leadership has informed the Norwegian government of its decision to participate in talks with the Sri Lanka government on issues relating to the "implementation of the Cease-fire Agreement". It quoted Anton Balasingham, the political advisor and the chief peace negotiator, that its leadership has accepted the Norwegian invitation to "participate in a review of the implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement in order to find practical ways of ensuring full compliance by both parties." Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen and his deputy, Vidar Helgesen, met with Balasingham at his residence in London and called on the LTTE to engage in urgent talks on problems relating to the implementation of the truce. The proposed meeting was only to review the truce implementation, but not a recommencement of the peace talks between the two sides, which have stalled since April 2003. --SP 1405 Local Time 1105 GMT
