A draft of Iraq's constitution should be ready by a Monday deadline, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq said on Sunday, according to Reuters. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, speaking from Baghdad in a series of televised interviews, said he had just met with members of the panel drafting the charter and they remained hopeful a pact could be reached on time. "They're making great progress. They've reached agreement on almost all of the key issues. There are one or two issues left, they're working very hard. They tell me they're optimistic but we will have to wait and see until tomorrow," he told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News. "The Iraqi Constitution will respect the rights of all Iraqis, men and women," he added on CNN.
