Peru's President Alejandro Toledo late Thursday dissolved his cabinet after two members resigned in apparent protest over a controversial appointment, DPA reported. Toledo said he made the move to give an opportunity for his cabinet members to lay down their offices before elections next year, a legal requirement before the national vote. But political observers said Toledo was rather motivated by the resignations of cabinet chief Carlos Ferrero and his popular housing minister Carlos Bruce. Neither man gave a reason for resigning. They both boycotted the swearing-in of Toledo's new foreign minister, the highly- controversial politician Fernando Olivera.
