At least nine inmates were killed and 13 wounded in a gang fight in a prison in western Venezuela, television reports said Thursday, according to dpa. The riot, which began late Wednesday in the La Pica prison in Monagas state, was apparently sparked by rivalry among criminal gangs, Globovision television said. Authorities meanwhile have restored calm at the prison, the report said.
