Two Turkish soldiers were killed and four wounded on Thursday when Kurdish separatists opened fire on their convoy in southeastern Turkey, a military official said, according to Reuters. The soldiers were ambushed in a valley five km (three miles) outside the town of Tunceli at about 2 a.m. (2300 GMT), the official said. "New units were sent to the area right after the incident. A large number of soldiers are being brought to the area by air to support the operation," he said, adding that there had been no further clashes since the ambush in the tense region. The official said the attack was carried out by the separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
