Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nijad has described the European proposals pertaining to the settlement of the nuclear issue as a humiliation to the Iranian people. In a telephone call to Kofi Annan, the UN Secretary General, Nijad said usage of nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes is a legitimate right to the Iranian people . 'Iran supports the UN convention, respects the resolutions of the UN and supports all peaceful efforts that are exerted by the UN Secretary General', said President Nijad noting that Iran is a member of the International Agency for Atomic Energy, and so it expects support from it'. Nijad hoped that the UN would support Iran's efforts to attain its legitimate rights because it (Iran) does not want to take unilateral measures, but at the same time it will never give up its legitimate rights'.
