Sudanese state television said on Sunday the aircraft carrying Sudan's First Vice President John Garang had landed safely in a camp in south Sudan after it was reported missing earlier in the day. "Reports indicate that the aircraft of the first vice-president John Garang landed safely in a camp in the south," state television said in a brief statement, according to Reuters. Garang left Uganda by helicopter late on Saturday to return to Sudan after talks with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. Shortly before the statement, the television said Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir had been informed by Museveni that communication with the aircraft had been lost in bad weather. It quoted Information Minister Abdel Basit Sabderat as saying efforts were continuing to establish the whereabouts of Garang's aircraft.
