A tornado killed at least 20 people and injured 46 others as it destroyed buildings in eastern China's Anhui and Jiangsu provinces, state media said on Sunday. State television showed pictures of vehicles overturned, trees uprooted and a factory unit flattened by the tornado as it hit several areas of Anhui's Lingbi county early Saturday afternoon, according to DPA. The provincial civil affairs bureau on Sunday reported 15 dead and 46 injured in Lingbi county, the government's official Xinhua news agency said. The dead included seven migrant workers killed when a factory roof collapsed onto them. Two middle-school students attending summer training courses were also found dead under rubble after a classroom collapsed onto them, the agency said. But a report on the website of the China Youth Daily quoted local officials as saying 11 middle-school children died, including two from the same family, and 30 were injured in the collapse. Five more people died and several were injured when the tornado hit Nanjing, the Jiangsu provincial capital, about one hour after Lingbi, the Beijing Youth Daily newspaper said on its website. The Lingbi county government provisionally estimated economic losses caused by the tornado at 42 million yuan (5 million dollars), the agency said.
