At least eight Bangladeshi fishermen went missing after their trawlers were swept away and sunk by rising waves during a tropical storm in the Bay of Bengal, officials said on Saturday. Coastguard sources said 14 others were rescued alive from the three fishing trawlers which sank with 22 fishermen on board late Wednesday about 30 kilometers off the Bangladeshi coast. The trawlers were fishing in the bay in defiance of storm warnings by authorities in the southern coastal town of Bagerhat, according to a report of DPA. Survivors told the coastguard that eight men remained unaccounted for since their fishing trawler went under the swirling water amid gale-force winds.
