Meanwhile, the death toll in Bombay from heavy monsoon rains continued to mount. Local news reports said 60 people have been killed in a landslide in the Saki Naka area. On Wednesday the city received the highest-ever single day of rainfall in an Indian city in the last 100 years. Of 513 fatalities in the heavy monsoon rains in Maharashtra state, 273 people lost their lives in Bombay.
