Zimbabwe Friday dismissed a U.N. report that strongly criticizes the country's campaign of shack and house demolitions, and charged that it contains "false" allegations and "judgemental language", dpa reported. The report also shows hostility to the government operation, known as "Operation Restore Order," Foreign Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi said. In the government's first official reaction to the damning report presented Friday in New York by United Nations envoy Anna Tibaijuka, the foreign minister told reporters in the capital Harare that the demolition campaign was carried out "in terms of Zimbabwean laws and (is) consistent with international provisions." "The report describes the operation in value-laden and judgemental language which clearly demonstrates its in-built bias against government and the operation," Mumbengegwi said in comments carried by state television. The report, written after Tibaijuka spent two weeks touring Zimbabwe, describes the demolition campaign launched in May as a "disastrous venture".
