A powerful explosion hit the motorcade of Lebanon's outgoing deputy prime minister Tuesday, wounding him and causing other casualties in the latest in a string of bombings targeting politicians and other figures, police said. Elias Murr, who is also the outgoing defense minister, was slightly wounded in the blast, said one police officer at the scene. The officer would not give details on the other casualties, and police threw a cordon over the area, keeping people and journalists away. The mid-morning blast reverberated across the Lebanese capital. Live television images from the scene of the explosion showed rescue workers helping a bloodied man _ who was still be moving _ out of the car. The car was left a charred and twisted wreck, and several nearby cars and buildings were damaged. Lebanese television stations LBC and Future also reported that Murr was wounded.
