Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Hassan Rohani, who has led the Islamic state's talks with the European Union since October 2003, has resigned, the official IRNA news agency said on Wednesday. Citing an "informed source", it said Rohani had sent his resignation letter to President Mohammad Khatami. The report gave no reason for Rohani's decision to quit his post as secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC). It was not clear whether his resignation had been accepted. Reuters quoted an official at Rohani's office as saying that he could neither confirm or deny the IRNA report.
