U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Ryan C. Crocker says the United States will provide $ 50,000 in emergency relief fund from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to assist people affected by floods in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan. Recent floods have played havoc in many areas of NWFP while many precious human lives have been lost besides the loss of cattle and severe damage to houses, property and crops. "We remain deeply concerned for the well-being of the families affected by these floods and we are pleased to support the local government and NGO community in the relief effort," the ambassador said in a statement. The grant will be used to provide food for 2,000 families in Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera Districts. It also includes 60,000 sandbags to help local authorities to cope with the situation.
