Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah met President George W. Bush at the White House here yesterday, to discuss bilateral and regional issues and to deliver a message of congratulations on the U.S. Independence Day. Sheikh Al-Sabah, speaking through an interpreter to reporters outside the White House, said the two leaders discussed "several topics concerning bilateral relations with the United States and concerning Iran, concerning Iraq, and also Syria." "The talk was very frank and candid and important," Sheikh al-Sabah said. "I am happy and confident about our talks." He declined to provide details of his conversation with Bush. Responding to a reporter's question, Sheikh al-Sabah said, "There are no fears concerning the region, but there [is] a little bit of caution." The Prime Minister also said he delivered a message from Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jabir Al-Ahmad Al-Jabir Al-Sabah congratulating the American people, who are marking Independence Day on July 4.
