Michael Ballack's free kick goal in extra time was all that separated hosts Germany from Mexico in their 4-3 victory in the third-place match of the Confederations Cup in Leipzig. Ballack's 97th minute goal finally settled the energetic contest after Mexico had come from a goal behind three different times, and Germany had Mike Hanke sent off in the 54th minute. Germany's young guns of Lukas Podolski and Bastian Schweinsteiger scored again, their third and second goals respectively in the tournament, to counter Jose Fonseca's 40th minute strike that left the match 2-1 at half-time. Mexico's Jared Borgetti bulged the net twice from headers in the second half, which along with Robert Huth's strike in the 79th minute sent the match into extra time where Ballack's goal finished off the scoring. --SP 2118 Local Time 1818 GMT
