The United States on Friday confirmed the country's second case of mad cow disease, according to the results of testing from laboratories in Weybridge, England, according to DPA. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns, in broadcast remarks, said the test confirmed the presence of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in the animal. Three prior tests had been done on the animal. The first identified the animal as "inconclusive" for BSE, and two added tests said the cow was negative.
