Schroeder seeks "fair compromise" on EU budget

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said on Monday that Europe needed a "fair compromise" on its future budget to send the right signal following rejections of the draft European Constitution in France and the Netherlands.
Schroeder also reiterated during a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair that Germany was ready to move on the budget and expected other member states to do the same, according to Reuters.
