At least 11 people were killed and three others were injured Saturday when gunmen attacked a minibus just south of Baghdad in the so-called Triangle of Death, police said. The attack occurred in Diyara, 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Baghdad, at 10:30 a.m. (0630 GMT) when gunmen in at least two cars opened fire on the minibus, said Muthana Khalid, police spokesman for the city of Hillah. Muthana said the men were all construction workers and lived in Jbala, near Hillah, and were headed to Baghdad. They were employed on various construction projects at U.S. and Iraqi bases in the Baghdad area, he added. Hillah is about 95 kilometers (60 miles) south of Baghdad. The injured were taken to Iskandariyah, 6 kilometers (4 miles) east of Diyara, The Associated Press quoted police as saying.
