President Jacques Chirac said on Friday EU countries should receive equal treatment over budget questions, standing by a demand for Britain to give up its rebate to help the European Union agree a long-term budget. "We both agree on reiterating that the European Union, at this difficult time, needs above all to unite and to reflect, and answer a number of questions," he told a news conference with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, according to Reuters.
