A passenger plane crashed on takeoff in the Sudanese capital Thursday, killing five people and injuring scores more, Sudan's state minister of aviation said. Minister Abdel Karim Abdullah said the plane's engines failed on takeoff. The aircraft was headed from the capital, Khartoum, to el-Fashir, capital of Northern Darfur, with 42 passengers abroad, Abdullah said. No further details were immediately available, according to a report of The Associated Press.
