Nepal Frees 12 political detainees

Nepal's royal government on
Thursday freed at least 12 political detainees who were
arrested after King Gyanendra seized absolute power earlier
this year.
The releases followed an emergency security meeting, said
Binod Adhikari, the chief administrative official in
Nepalgunj, a bordertown about 500 kilometers (310 miles)
west of the capital Katmandu, The Associated Press reported.
