Police boosted security at cinemas in New Delhi on Monday as they investigated bombs that killed at least one person and wounded 50 at two theaters showing a film condemned by Sikhs. Another explosion Monday injured one man, but it was unclear if it was linked to the cinema blasts. The cinema bombs struck 15 minutes apart late Sunday at theaters showing the Hindi-language film "Jo Bole So Nihal," which Sikh leaders have said offends their faith by showing a Sikh character chased by scantily clad women. "Security has been stepped up at cinema halls. Police have been asked to be vigilant and alert at public places," The Associated Press quoted federal Home Minister Shivraj Patil as saying Monday. But by Monday, every cinema that had been showing the movie in New Delhi had apparently pulled it off its screens.
