European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso suggested Friday that Britain's EU budget rebate should be amended. Barroso said Britain was now more prosperous than it was two decades ago when then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher secured the rebate, which is worth about 3 billion pounds (¤4.4 billion) per year. He said it would be unfair for Bulgaria and Romania to be paying more than Britain, and that some compromise should be made,AP reported.
