First direct talks of Serbian and Kosovo leaders since their bloody conflict appeared possible Sunday after prime ministers Vojislav Kostunica and Bajram Kosumi said they were willing to meet face to face. "Kostunica...is ready to talk to the prime minister of Kosovo about problems facing Kosovo on May 24," spokesman Srdjan Djuric told Beta news agency Sunday in Belgrade, dpa reported. The announcement followed by a day Kosumi's interview with German radio Deutsche Welle, in which he said that he was willing to discuss problems with Belgrade, possibly already next week in Berlin. Also on Saturday, Kostunica reiterated that sovereignty for Kosovo was unacceptable for Belgrade, offering instead a wide autonomy "with international guarantees". Kosovo Albanians have been insisting on nothing less than rapid and full independence. --More 2227 Local Time 1927 GMT
