A gun battle at a checkpoint in southeast Baghdad has left five Iraqi policemen dead. About 30 gunmen attacked early Sunday near a military college that now serves as a camp for U.S. troops, CNN quoted Iraqi police as saying. The insurgents used small arms to launch an attack against the police checkpoint in the al-Rustumiya neighborhood and stole the dead officers' weapons before fleeing, officials said. The gun battle comes one day after attacks in three Iraqi cities on Saturday killed at least 14 people.
