Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General and Chairman of Board of Directors of Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA), patronized at his office here today the signing ceremony of a contract between the Saudi national carrier and Brazilian Aircraft Manufacturer Embraer to purchase 15 Brazilian regional jet aircraft ''Embraer 170''. The contract was signed by Saudia's Director General Dr. Khalid Abdullah bin Baker and Embraer's Executive President Morecio Potello. Prince Sultan watched a video show on Saudia's achievements and developments over the previous five years. In remarks on aircraft Embraer 170, Dr. Baker pointed out that this model is considered among the most modern regional jet aircraft in the world and that world companies have taken part in manufacturing its parts including three U.S. companies. He noted that Saudia will receive two aircraft next December, two in January and later, one every month successively. Dr. Al-Baker indicated that for the first time in Saudia's history, the aircraft will be purchased from its self-finances. The singing ceremony was attended by Prince Fahd bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saud, Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General for Civil Aviation Affairs, and a number of officials.
