Bangladesh said Indian troops shot dead two Bangladeshi men who intruded across the frontier on Saturday, despite requests not to kill unarmed civilians for trespass. Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire when the two men walked into Hariharpur village near the western town of Jessore, said an official of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), border guards said. Bangladesh has made repeated appeals to India not to kill trespassers but to arrest them, the official said. "But they never pay any heed to our appeal, and keep on killing unarmed people whenever they commit such offences," Reuters quoted the official as saying. He said about 400 Bangladeshis were shot dead by BSF troops along the 4,000 km (2,500 mile) border between the two countries over the last six years.
