Spain's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday it was "greatly concerned" about the disappearance of Equatorial Guinea's exiled opposition leader Severo Moto, who lives in Spain and has been reported missing by his family. Authorities suspect that Moto may have been killed, Spanish newspapers reported on Wednesday. "The government wishes to express its great concern in relation to the disappearance, presumably in foreign territory, of Mr. Severo Moto," the statement said. The government said it provided the necessary protection for Moto and was investigating the reasons behind his disappearance. It called on other governments to co-operate. Moto is the leader of a self-styled government in exile and a sworn enemy of Equatorial Guinea's President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who has accused him of fostering a coup attempt last year in the central African country that is rich in oil. --More 0101 Local Time 2201 GMT
