A fire burned more than 1,000 hectares (2,500 acres) of pine forest on the island of Evia, near Athens, authorities said Monday. Four firefighting planes, 40 fire trucks and more than 200 firefighters were used to bring the blaze under control at Lichada, about 120 kilometers (75 miles) north of the capital.
