African Union chairman, Nigeria's President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Wednesday in Abuja pledged to continue to work toward peace and political stability in Africa, the region of West Africa and GuineaBissau in particular. Obasanjo made the pledge in a meeting with Portuguese Foreign Minister Joao Cravinho, who had asked for Obasanjo's support in resolving the political crisis in GuineaBissau, said Obasanjo spokeswoman Remi Oyo. She said Obasanjo also promised that in furtherance of his peace initiative in West Africa, he planned to visit Senegal and GuineaBissau soon. Obasanjo was on his way to China and Indonesia on a four-day economic mission an audience to the Portuguese envoy.
