At least 37 people were injured _ four of them seriously _ when an EVA Air plane was hit by turbulence Monday as it approached Tokyo's international airport, a police official said. Kyodo News agency said the turbulence occurred about 18 minutes before the Taiwanese flight, BR2196, landed at Tokyo's Narita airport. Narita police official Toshio Yokota said at least 37 people were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries, mostly cuts and bruises. Police believe most of them were unbuckling their seat belts at the time and thrown out of their seat. Transport Ministry officials and Narita police official Toshio Yokota confirmed the incident. Yokota said the plane, carrying 251 passengers, landed safely and there was no damage to the aircraft. The Airbus A330-200 took off from Taipei and landed at about 6:29 p.m. (0929 GMT) local time, the ministry said.
