A senior government official said Friday that Bulgarian troops should remain in Iraq until the end of their mandate. "A pullout of the Bulgarian troops from Iraq ahead of the general elections here this summer would be a wrong move," Deputy Foreign Minister Gergana Grancharova said in a television interview. The liberal government of Prime Minister Simeon Saxcoburggotski is to decide by the end of the month whether to keep troops in Iraq beyond July. Parliament will then take the final decision.
