An explosion in a northern Chinese coal mine caused a massive cave-in that trapped 29 miners below ground, officials and the government's Xinhua News Agency reported Thursday. The blast ripped through the Xiangyuangou No. 2 mine in Shanxi province's Jiacheng county on Wednesday afternoon as 83 miners were at work in the shaft, Xinhua said. Fifty-four miners managed to escape but there was no immediate word on the condition of those inside, Xinhua said.
