The Higher Committee organizing the 15th Summer World Games of the Special Olympics, hosted by the German capital Berlin between June 17 and 25, 2023, announced the names of more than 200 German cities in what is known as the Host Town Programme, which precedes the start of the games, between June 12 and 15. The German city of Duisburg is scheduled to host the Saudi mission, which will participate with 15 Olympic sports. Headed by Director of the Saudi Programme Abdulrahman Al-Qureishi, the national mission seeks to maintain its achievements in the past edition of the games, held in Abu Dhabi in 2019, where it won 40 medals: 18 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze. Regional President of the International Special Olympics Eng. Ayman Abdelwahab said that the Host Town Programme will be held soon before the launch of the Summer World Games, over the course of four days to motivate locals to host delegations participating in the games and provide accommodation for athletes and coaches from around the world in local hotels, as well as to organise entertainment and sporting events for guests.
