Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources will organize here on Saturday in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining the first seminar at the level of the Arab world on horizons and opportunities of mining investments in the Arab countries. The 3-day seminar aims at underlining the importance of the mining sector in the process of the economic development in the Arab countries as well as creation of an attractive environment for the exploitation of the mineral resources. Invitations have been extended to a number of Arab ministers of energy and to representatives of some mining companies and organizations that are concerned with energy. Working papers due to be delivered at the seminar will shed light on the components of the available metal ores, and the existing legislations and regulations in the Arab countries. On the fringes of the seminar, a 3-day exhibition will be organized for displaying the metal ores of the Arab and foreign companies. It is worth mentioning that the mining industry constitutes about two percent of the Gross National Product (GNP) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
