Colonel Misfir Al-Quraini, the Official Spokesman of the General Directorate of Border Guard, announced that the land patrols of the Border Guard in the Regions of Najran, Jazan, Asir, and Tabuk have successfully foiled attempts to smuggle 35 tons and 176 kilograms of the narcotic plant khat, as well as 483.3 kilograms of hashish during the period from 14/8/1444AH to 26/8/1444AH. Colonel Al-Quraini stated that the Border Guard arrested 257 smugglers, including 14 citizens, and 243 violators of the border security system. Of these, 220 were Yemenis, and 23 were Ethiopians. He added that the initial legal procedures against them are complete, and they, along with the confiscated contraband, were handed over to the competent authority.
