Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, met today in Riyadh with Lynn Hastings, the UN Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process. The UN Official offered her congratulations to Albudawi on his assumption of duties as Secretary General of the GCC, wishing him more success in his mission. The two sides discussed the organization's efforts in Palestine, including development and humanitarian programs. The Secretary-General reiterated GCC's firm stance concerning the Palestinian cause and referred to the efforts of the GCC states in providing development and humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, welcoming cooperation with the United Nations in this regard. The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Aluwaisheg, GCC Assistant Secretary for Political Affairs and Negotiations.
