Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met here today with Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, the United Arab Emirates' Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Government Summit Organization 2023, on the sidelines of the summit, which is taking place on February 12-15 in Dubai, UAE. At the start of the meeting, the UAE minister and summit chairman congratulated Albudaiwi on assuming his duties as Secretary General of the GCC, wishing him further success in his career. During the meeting, the officials discussed the objectives of the summit, which are to highlight a range of future opportunities and challenges, in addition to developing innovative solutions for them, by relying on strategic plans that contribute to directing policies and setting priorities. The summit brings together 150 countries, including their heads of state and government, and a large number of ministers, government officials, thought leaders, international experts, global and regional organizations, and private-sector leaders with the aim of crafting opportunities to keep pace with the rapid developments at the global level. The summit also seeks to support the directions of governments to bolster development, a goal the UAE aspires to achieve by hosting summits, conferences, forums, and workshops. For his part, the GCC Secretary General underlined the importance of the World Government Summit 2023 in building, consolidating, and entering into regional and international partnerships to address the most important global challenges.
