The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) issued today its monthly report on Saudi domestic and international airports' performance in December 2022. The report was published based on 14 essential performance criteria and in implementation of the strategic directions aimed at improving services and enhancing the experience for travelers at Saudi Arabia's airports. King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Fahd International Airport (KFIA), Abha International Airport, Al-Jouf Airport and Bisha Airport ranked first in the report. GACA has followed the principle of transparency when evaluating the airports' performance, which were divided into five categories, starting with international airports, where the number of passengers exceeds 15 million passengers annually, where King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah ranked first with a commitment rate of 82%. In contrast, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh came second with a commitment rate of 64%. In the second category of international airports, with passengers between 5-15 million annually, King Fahd International Airport ranked first with a commitment rate of 91%. Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport had a commitment rate of 91%. As for the third category of international airports, where the number of passengers ranges between 2 and 5 million annually, Abha International Airport ranked first with a 100% commitment rate, while King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jizan came second with a commitment rate of 100%. Meanwhile, Al-Jouf Airport ranked first in the fourth category of international airports that receive less than two million passengers annually, with a 100% commitment rate. In the fifth category, the domestic airports' category, Bisha Airport came first, achieving a score of 100%, outperforming all competing airports in the total average waiting times for the departure and arrival flights. GACA relies on 14 essential criteria to measure performance, most notably, the time spent in travel procedures, passports, and customs areas. This is in addition to standards related to persons with disabilities and several other criteria matching best international practices.
