Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Saleh Al-Suhaibani has stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's permanent support to the brotherly Palestinian people is based on its belief in the importance of the just Palestinian cause that represents the main pillar of OIC work and an important aspect of its concerns, and out of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's belief that its efforts towards this issue are a duty by its unaltered belief, consciousness and loyalty to the Arab and Islamic nation. He also reiterated the Kingdom's call for intensified international efforts to end this prolonged conflict, in a bid to enhance the stability of the entire region, as well as of the Palestinian people, who, with great regret, continue to suffer from receiving legitimate rights. These remarks were made during the Kingdom's speech at the extraordinary meeting of the open membership executive committee held in Jeddah yesterday to discuss the recurrent Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque, upon the joint request of the delegations of Palestine and Jordan in coordination and consultation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, chair of the current Islamic Summit and chair of the Executive Committee, where this meeting was held in the presence of the permanent representatives to OIC at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the organization. Al-Suhaibani, who chaired the meeting in the presence of OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, started the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's speech by referring to what happened a few days ago in Jerusalem of breaking into Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremists, which cannot be seen in isolation of events that occurred two decades ago when a senior Israeli official did a similar act that resulted in the death of hundreds of Palestinians upon the start of the second intifada. He stressed that such negative developments urge the international community to expedite procedures to solve the current situation to spare the region further conflicts and confrontations, reiterating the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's fixed position of the importance of providing full protection to Al-Aqsa Mosque and stop all dangerous violations and provocations within its premises, holding Israeli authorities full responsibility for any results or repercussions regarding what they adopt of provocative policies and practices in Jerusalem and attacks against its residents and holy sites, especially that such procedures eventually undermine the international peace efforts and contradict with international principles and norms that call for respecting religious holy sites. In his speech, Al-Suhaibani highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts towards the Palestinian issue, renewing its permanent confirmation of the centrality of this cause for the Arab and Islamic nations and Riyadh's full and permanent solidarity with the Palestinian people and their just cause. He also referred to the Kingdom's endeavor to support all efforts aimed to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue and to enable the Palestinian people to establish their own independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative. In its speech, the Kingdom called on the international community to act immediately, and oblige Israel to stop these provocative practices to serve justice and realize justice for the brotherly Palestinian people.
