Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the First Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies in the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is concluded here today. The meeting is hosted by the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority. The final communique of the first meeting adopted Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention. President of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority Mazin bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous, who is also Chairman of the meeting, announced the final communique approving a draft decision of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention for the OIC Member States for cooperation in the field of enforcing anti-corruption laws, which aims to enhance cooperation among the anti-corruption law enforcement agencies in an efficient and speedy manner, encouraging membership in the Global Riyadh Initiative Network (GlobE Network), providing a legal framework for the direct and rapid exchange of information and investigations, and contributing to preventing corruption crimes. Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention will support efforts in the field of protecting integrity and promoting the principle of transparency and combating corruption to aid in achieving more progress and prosperity in the Islamic societies. This meeting stems from Saudi Arabia's keenness to activate its international initiatives aimed at combating corruption in participation with the international community in efforts to protect integrity and combat corruption, and exchange experiences with other countries and international organizations. It is worth noting that Heads and representatives of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies in the member states of the OIC will participate in the meeting, in addition to several international organizations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), and the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units, as well as several experts in the field of protecting integrity and combating corruption from inside and outside the Kingdom.
