His Excellency President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China stressed that Riyadh Arab-China Summit for Cooperation and Development is a landmark in the history of Chinese-Arab relations and will lead relations and cooperation between the People's Republic of China and Arab states towards a brighter future.
In his speech at the Riyadh Arab-China Summit for Cooperation and Development, held today at King Abdulaziz International Conference Center, His Excellency said: "The friendship between the People's Republic of China and the Arab States continues with its roots in the depths of history, where they met and got to know each other through the old Silk Road, shared through the struggle for national liberation, achieved cooperation and joint gain in the current of economic globalization and continued to hold together the right and justice of the changing and volatile world. The spirit of Chinese-Arab friendship of solidarity, synergy, equality, mutual benefit, inclusiveness and mutual benefit were developed through it," considering solidarity and synergy as prominent characteristics of the Chinese -Arab friendship.
He added: " the People's Republic of China and the Arab States trust each other and have brotherly feelings. We share unwavering support for issues related to the vital interests of the other side. We unite and progress together on the cause of achieving the nation's renaissance and solidarity in the spirit of one team against the COVID-19 pandemic," noting that the Chinese-Arab strategic partnership has become based on comprehensive cooperation and common development for the better future.
The Chinese president considered equality and mutual benefit an inexhaustible driving force for Chinese-Arab friendship, and the Chinese-Arab cooperation based on mutual benefit and common gain is a role model, as 17 cooperation mechanisms were established between the two sides within the framework of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum. During the past ten years, the volume of trade exchange has exceeded about $300 billion, the balance of mutual direct investment amounted to $27 billion, and more than 200 projects were implemented within the framework of cooperation in building the "Belt and Road" initiative, which eventually benefited nearly two billion people.
He pointed out that inclusiveness and mutual benefit are the values of Chinese-Arab friendship, and the two civilizations exchange admiration and record great historical chapters of mutual learning and mutual benefit.
He added, "The Middle East region is witnessing new and profound changes, where the desire of the Arab peoples for peace and development has become more urgent. The Chinese and Arab sides, as strategic partners, must develop the spirit of friendship, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and build a joint society, which will bring more benefits to the peoples of both sides."
He stressed the importance of adhering to independence and preserving common interests, stressing support for the Arab efforts to explore ways of development that are in line with their national circumstances and to control their future and fate.
He continued, "The Chinese side is keen to deepen mutual strategic confidence with the Arab side and exchange firm support for the efforts of the other side to preserve the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity, and the two sides adhere jointly to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, the application of true multilateralism, and the defense of right and the legitimate interests of developing countries, and we must focus on economic development and strengthen cooperation based on mutual gains."
The President of the People's Republic of China added, "It is necessary to enhance harmonization between development strategies and build the Belt and Road with high quality, consolidate traditional cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, energy, infrastructure and others, and strengthen the rising growth poles such as green development, carbon reduction, health, investment and finance, and explore and open new horizons in the fields of aviation, space, economy, peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and effectively dealing with existing major challenges such as food and energy security".
He affirmed the Chinese side's keenness to work with the Arab side to implement the global development initiative and to strengthen South-South cooperation to achieve sustainable development, stressing the importance of maintaining peace in the region and achieving common security.
The President pointed out that the Chinese side supports the Arab side in finding political solutions to hot and thorny issues and building a common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security system in the Middle East, urging the international community to respect the peoples of the Middle East and add positive energy that serves security and stability in the Middle East.
He indicated that the Chinese side welcomes participation with the Arab side in the global security initiative, and is ready to continue contributing with Chinese wisdom in promoting peace and security in the Middle East.
The President of the People's Republic of China called for enhancing civilizational exchange and increasing mutual understanding and trust, and said, "It is necessary to expand the scope of individual exchange, deepen humanitarian and cultural cooperation, exchange experiences in wisdom and management, jointly reject Islamophobia, and conduct cooperation in de-extremism and to terrorism has no linkage with a specific race or religion".
The President stressed the importance of devoting shared human values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom, and mutual benefit between civilizations in the new era.
He expressed his satisfaction with what was agreed upon at this summit to work with all efforts to build the Chinese-Arab community for a common future towards the new era, with the outline of a comprehensive cooperation plan between the People's Republic of China and the Arab countries with the aim of jointly planning the prospects for the development of the Chinese-Arab relations as the first step to building the Chinese-Arab community for a common future and implement the broad lines of the comprehensive cooperation plan between the People's Republic of China and the Arab countries.
The President highlighted the Chinese side's keenness to work with the Arab side to implement the eight joint actions during the next three to five years, which cover the eight areas, namely "development, food security, health, green development and innovation, energy security, dialogue among civilizations, youth rehabilitation, and security and stability", indicating that the Chinese side has informed the Arab side of the detailed contents of the eight joint works, and will work together with the Arab side to implement them as soon as possible and achieve an early result.
Regarding the Palestinian cause, he said, "The Palestinian cause concerns peace and stability in the Middle East, and puts the moral conscience of the humanity at stake. The historical injustice suffered by the Palestinian people cannot continue indefinitely, and it is not permissible to compromise on legitimate national rights, and we look forward to the establishment of an independent state that does not accept rejection, and the international community must consolidate faith in a two-state solution, firmly adhere to the principle of lands in exchange for peace, and work steadfastly to make commendable efforts to advance peace negotiations and increase humanitarian and development aid for Palestine to push for a just and urgent solution to the Palestinian cause". He pointed to his country's welcome to the recent important progress achieved by efforts to advance internal Palestinian reconciliation, reaffirming that the Chinese side steadfastly supports the establishment of an independent and fully sovereign State of Palestine on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to supporting Palestine's attainment of full membership in the United Nations.
His Excellency President of the People's Republic of China pointed out that his country will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian side with the aim of supporting it to carry out livelihood projects, in addition to increasing donations to United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
He stated that the Chinese Communist Party has recently held the successful 20th National Congress, as tasks and methods for advancing the renaissance of the People's Republic of China were identified comprehensively through Chinese modernization, and it also developed ambitious outlines for the People's Republic of China's future development, stressing that the People's Republic of China is committed to maintaining peace in the world and promoting common development, in addition to pushing to build a community with a shared future for humanity while adhering to a peaceful and independent foreign policy and defending international justice and fairness.
He also affirmed the People Republic of China's commitment to developing friendship and cooperation with all countries on the basis of the five principles of peaceful coexistence and deepening and expanding global partnership, as well as adhering to the stability of the openness strategy driven by mutual benefit and win-win, pursuing high-level openness, and jointly promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, which provides new opportunities for all countries, including Arab countries, through the new development in the People's Republic of China.
Concluding his speech, His Excellency President Xi Jinping drew attention to the fact that the great cause begins with a dream and is accomplished with concrete action, calling for devoting the spirit of Chinese-Arab friendship and working hand in hand to build the Chinese-Arab community for a common future towards the new era, in addition to working together to build a more wonderful and bright future for Chinese-Arab relations.
